On our quest to discover what part the Pleistocene Epoch has played in the earth's history, we must first start with
the basics!

An epoch is part of the geologic
time scale. Each period is divided into epochs. The "pleistocene" represents a period of time from 10,000 to
about 1.5 million years ago. (4)

Significance of the Pleistocene: These characters give kids (and adults) everywhere a great
story to watch, but they also represent a true story, one which geologists and paleontologists have been working hard to uncover. Discovering
past glaciation cycles can help us to predict future Ice Ages and periods of glaciation. Climate change is not just a
nice story about a mammoth and a sloth, it is a problem facing us everyday, and we must understand its effects in order to
cope with the concern of global warming now.
